What started as a marginal trend has become a key component of the mainstream marketplace. Organic farming is an agricultural protocol that uses methods that seek to protect the soil, water and environment from chemical toxins. The resulting fruit is said to be both healthier and tastier.

Although it is more expensive than its traditional counterparts due to more labour-intensive farming practices and the relatively low availability and market, organic fruit is a growing sector of our industry.

The most recent statistics report a whopping $1 billion in retail sales of organic food products. This number (already a couple of years old) was thought to be conservative at the time and was up approximately 28% from the previous year.
